My husband used to go days without much sleep. We met doing food runs to Mexico. We'd leave here around 7:oo pm and get back around 5:00 am (give or take depending on the border). The trips were usually during the week. I didn't work during that time, but Red did. He'd simply stay up and down some coffee. He used to say he'd sleep when he's dead.
Well, we're getting older and feel the lack of sleep more so he doesn't sacrifice much...unless it's absolutely necessary. He'll stay up and work on his car or finish some project or work on bills, etc., and not come to bed. He'll lay down in the living room floor with a blanket, with the lights on, and snooze. Though he's not staying up the entire time, he's still been sacrificing sleep (good sleep) to get things done.
At the same time he will help out in putting Karrots to bed at night, even when he has work early in the morning, and taking care of her the few times she wakes up crying.
Honey, thank you for choosing running the house and spending time with us over sleeping. Your sacrifice is greatly appreciated...by more than just me!
