Solvang

Well, we're back and we had a blast! Here are some pictures to give you an idea of how it went:

Here's our bed at the Storybook Inn. It's called "Swan's Nest," named after Hans Christian Andersen's book, The Wild Swans, which they had a copy of in the room.

And this is one of the main reasons we chose this room...a jacuzzi! We had one on our honeymoon and thought it appropriate to carry on the tradition! Yes, we used it both nights!

We even had a balcony! There was also a fireplace, which we OBVIOUSLY didn't use, but would have been great in winter!

Here's Big Red putting on his sunscreen and wearing his hat. I love my fair skinned man!

Big Red got to try on some wooden clogs!

Big Red picking Hans Christian Andersen's nose. He had a museum and almost everything was named after him or one of his stories. We got a book of the complete collection of the stories.

Being the history buff nerds we are, we found an article in our room that talked about this wind harp and just HAD to find it. It is CA's oldest wind harp dating back to 1941. Its pieces were originally made with bamboo and reed and have since been replaced with metal. We found it in the back of some retirement home with most of it tangled in disrepair.

Across from the wind harp was the Hans Christian Andersen park. We didn't visit, but it looked different!

The Inn puts out wine, appetizers and sweets in the afternoon and, in having a pregnant guest, the inn keeper also put out some grape juice. To our surprise, it was made in my hubby's home town!

Here's a shot of our breakfast. Saturday was eggs benedict: over easy on english muffins adorned with gravey. Today was a chicken sausage and egg burrito. And...of course, we had aebleskivers each morning!

Guess what?

I OWN an aebleskivers pan! I have never used it, but have kept it thinking maybe one day I will.

Want to come over and try it together?
